Chennai Chess Club offers a coaching experience designed to help students learn deeply and progress consistently. Our goal is to set a strong benchmark in online chess coaching by focusing on quality, structure, and results.
From small batch sizes to monthly performance reports, we go beyond standard coaching practices to give our students the attention, clarity, and support they need to improve.
- Batch strength - 6 to 7 students per batch. Kids below 7 years have 4-5 students per batch.

Do you offer classes for complete beginners?
Yes! We have dedicated beginner batches where children learn from the absolute basics, step by step.
Are trial or demo sessions available before enrollment?
Yes. A demo/assessment session is mandatory before joining.
This helps us understand your child’s skill level and place them in the most suitable batch.
What do I need to attend a chess session?
All you need is a laptop, computer, or tablet, a stable internet connection, and a child who is enthusiastic to learn!
Who are the trainers?
Our trainers are FIDE-rated chess players with several years of experience teaching young children. Chennai Chess Club follows a strict and intensive selection process to ensure only high-quality coaches lead our sessions.
How do you assess my child’s skill level before starting?
We conduct a demo/assessment session to understand your child’s current knowledge and place them in the correct level-based batch.
Are online classes engaging?
Absolutely. Our online classes use an interactive two-way chessboard, live video conferencing, real-time puzzles, and topic-based activities, along with an in-class leader board. These tools ensure students stay focused, active, and fully engaged throughout the session.
How many students will be part of a batch?
Our batches are intentionally kept small, with a maximum of 6 to 7 students so every child receives personal attention. For younger children aged 5 to 7, the batch size is even smaller with only 4 to 5 students per batch. This ensures they get the support they need.
Will you give homework after each session?
Yes. Homework is an essential part of our curriculum. After every session, the tutor assigns the prescribed homework through our classroom portal, where your child submits their answers and the tutor can monitor, evaluate, and guide their progress.
What happens if my child misses a class?
If Level 1 & 2 students miss a session due to unavoidable circumstances, we provide a pre-recorded video of the missed topic so they can learn on their own and stay on track.
For students in Level 3 and above, the coach personally helps them catch up with the missed syllabus in the following session.
How do you ensure that my child’s progress is smooth?
We have a dedicated backend team that closely monitors your child’s performance to ensure steady progress. If we notice any inconsistency or slowdown, our team immediately steps in, identifies the issue, and provides the necessary support to keep your child on track.
How long will my child take to complete each level?
Our curriculum is divided into levels, each with a predefined completion timeframe. During onboarding, you will receive an Onboarding Kit that clearly outlines the expected duration for every level and provides other important curriculum details.
What measures do you take to motivate the students?
We maintain a monthly leader board that rewards students for consistent practice. Winners of our regular chess tournaments are appreciated in our WhatsApp communities and on Instagram, which serves as a strong motivator for children to stay active and improve.
Do students receive certificates after completing a course?
Yes. Students receive a certificate upon completing each course level.
How will I receive news and updates from the club after joining?
Once you enroll, you will be added to a dedicated WhatsApp group where all important updates, announcements, and reminders are shared regularly.
