How we started
Chennai Chess Club started its Online coaching services in 2023 to cater to the growing demand of high-quality chess education in online space. We have grown to become one of the best academies in the world within a span of two years

Chennai Chess Club wants to become a pioneer in the field of chess coaching by integrating high quality teaching methods with cutting edge technology to provide the best learning conditions to chess learners world-wide. Online Coaching has gained a bad reputation over the last few years, and we want to be the institution that changes that

Varun
Co-founder
Varun is a chess educator and entrepreneur whose journey with the game began at the age of 10. A graduate of the National Institute of Technology, Trichy, he later built a successful career in leadership and business, including serving as Business Head for Tamil Nadu at HomeLane. Drawing from his own experience as a young chess player where passion existed but structured guidance was lacking, he founded Chennai Chess Club to transform how children learn chess. Through structured curricula, clear milestones, and the use of technology and analytics, the club focuses on nurturing strong chess players while developing confident thinkers, problem solvers, and disciplined learners.
Paul
Co-founder
Paul Vannan is an education-focused technologist and IIT Madras graduate with experience as a Data Scientist, specializing in data-driven systems and scalable design. During the COVID period, he discovered chess as an adult and was drawn to its strategic depth and clarity of thought. Noticing the lack of structured, outcome-oriented chess education, he shaped this insight into a professional mission. Through Chennai Chess Club, Paul combines modern pedagogy, technology, and structured learning to create a serious, measurable approach to chess education.
